Dries Van Noten-Paris has begun!

I have one word: EXCELLENT! One of my favourite designers gives us here in my opinion a brilliant collection. Clearly 90´s inspired- there are florals mixed with tartan mixed with delicate chiffon-like frills. Doesn´t sound right does it? But it rocks! I also love the styling; tartan on tartan on tartan. Perhaps the new denim on denim trend? I think so. At least I know I´m going to be sporting something similar soon. There were even Kurt Cobain-esque sunglasses to top it off, you know the white ones. I also noted he used fairly dark colors for spring like many of the designers we´ve seen so far. Again for example the midnight blue color I´m so fond of. Love it. More of this please! And yes, I think this is my favourite so far. Nough said.

Freezing in the sun

Photos by Dagný

It´s a sunny day here in Iceland! Make use of it and wear something skimpy. Just kidding. I´ve shown you guys this dress I´m wearing here above before. I just can´t get enough of it. It´s this silky Merino wool, soo comfy. I added some layers for fun. Red mesh never fails and if one thinks that´s enough, think again. There´s always room for one more layer. I´d suggest something black and seethrough (hehe I know, my favourite). Oh, and don´t forget the shoes! My recently scored 90´s babies from the vintage shop Nostalgia. I really suggest you go take a trip to that shop. There´s some great stuff to be found. Anyways, enjoy the day y´all.

Street-style from the shows

Oh man, I wish I could be there and witness all this eye candy! These are just a few I found inspiring. There´s still Paris to come so I´m really putting my hopes up for some class-A streetstyle over there. All the above is excellent though.

Jil Sander

Ok, that´s it. I´m going shopping for something in midnight blue! I´m really starting to appreciate this color, just lovely! Innocence, child-like, big proportions..The minimalist in me liked it. The collection also has a beautiful color palette- Midnight blue, burgundy mixed with bright red (a surprizingly nice combo I think), black, white..
As said, I was keen on the big proportioned silhouettes, simple and what felt child-like. Always good to add a little innocence in ones´ wardrobe. Don´t ya think?

Versace

Lace mixed in with flimsy dresses, leather, short everything, low slung belts, high gladiator heels.. A very obviously sexy collection. Maybe a bit too obvious for my taste. I prefer it more subtle, but hey, the Versace woman has never been known to be anything but painfully hot. -Each for their own-
Lingerie-gladiator woman. Well, Donetella certainly went her own way here and no doubt her clientele will aprove. There were nudes, orange, blue- all mixed in with black. I did like how she intertwined the delicate lace with some heavier pieces such as the leather trenchcoat in photo nr: 3.
In the latter half of the show she started on the tie-dye. Actually there was tie-dye everything, from daywear to eveningwear. I personally think it was a little overkill and the first half of the collection was so much stronger. Anyways, some things positive, some not so positive.

Faded

I just wanted to show you this awesome faded lace shirt I recently got. I broke it in today and I love it! I kind of indulged and got these shoes also.. Every woman ( and man for that matter) has a right to her shoes! Nice huh?! I think they´re kind of perfect, go with everything..The perfect mix of she-man and classic. Anyways, are you enjoying fashion week-s so far? I am, but it does get tired writing about shows over and over again. But hey, my favourite is still left, Paris! That ought to be good..

P.S. Sorry for lack of quality in photos.

Prada

Oh Prada. I love the fact that I never know what to expect. Miss Prada was clearly under some geisha/Harajuku girl influence here and I quite like it. She used florals on almost all of her pieces, forgivable cause of the dark undertone and mood I thought. Even kind of cool. There were leather socks, platform shoes..You know, the essentials for spring apparently. The silhouettes were simple with a 60´s vibe to them I thought. Short skirts and shifts, lots of black and red, and some metalic socks and shoes thrown in for good measure. I thought the overall mood was very dark, serious..Maybe that´s why she decided that we shall be sporting fur in the springtime? I´ll leave you all to interpret all of this. There´s always a message behind Prada.
